Hilton Head Dining - Great Food For Every Taste

Whether you live on Hilton Head Island or are vacationing there, Hilton Head dining offers something for everyone. In fact, for those vacationers uninterested in golf or tennis, the island's dining choices are a major attraction by themselves. The range of dining experiences on include fine dining, casual dining, pubs, taverns, family restaurants, and more. Many restaurants feature waterfront dining, with the choice of eating indoors or outdoors. Many types of cuisine are offered, including American-style cuisine, seafood, and international cuisine. In short, Hilton Head's dining scene has something for every taste.

Although many major restaurant chains have a presence on the island, to truly experience Hilton Head dining you must try the many unique local restaurants the island is famous for. One of the island's most renowned dining spots is Michael Anthony's Cucina Italiana, getting rave reviews from critics and patrons alike. Head chef Michael Cirafesi's dishes are consistently excellent, and the restaurant's owners are deeply involved in all aspects of the restaurant, doing everything to high standards to keep their customers satisfied. It is one of the first places you should try as you begin your tour of the dining scene.

One new restaurant has been making a lot of waves, again earning great reviews from both critics and customers. That restaurant is The Studio, which combines an excellent, creative, and ever-changing menu with art. Unlike many other restaurants, however, the art is not limited to the presentation of the dishes, but is in fact displayed on the walls. The owners of the restaurant are Paul Colella, who personally prepares the dishes rather than simply overseeing them, and Lunonia Colella, whose artwork adorns the restaurant's walls and who is now expanding her art into singing as well. The Studio also won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2008.

Although Michael Anthony's and The Studio both represent Hilton Head dining at its finest, there are many, many other worthy restaurants to try. Celebrity Food Network Chef Robert Irvine, who lives on the island when not on business, recently opened Robert Irvine's eat! For those looking for international cuisine, the dining scene offers Taste of Thailand, Hinoki (a Japanese restaurant renowned for its sushi and beautiful atmosphere), Kurama (a popular Japanese steakhouse featuring teppanyaki/hibachi-style cooking performances), La Normandie, and for those seeking authentic Mexican food, Las Palapas. Other well-known island restaurants include Alligator Grille, Antonio's, the Salty Dog Café, and many more. Anyone planning to experience what Hilton Head dining has to offer should consult guides and make plans ahead of time, as the amazing variety of restaurants can be overwhelming to the uninitiated.
