Guide to the Korea International Exhibition Centre

The Korea International Exhibition Centre also known as KINTEX is one of Korea's most important exhibition venues. Situated in Seoul, KINTEX has played host to several world renowned exhibitions, conferences and international trade fairs since it was built in 2005.

KINTEX is one of the most popular exhibition venues in South East Asia and has five exhibition halls and over 20 conference rooms. With over 50,000 square metres of indoor exhibition space, this venue is the ideal base for exhibitors looking to venture into the Korean market. The centre also has a vast outdoor space and a ballroom that can accommodate 2000 delegates. KINTEX also houses five restaurants, a food court, two lounge areas and snack bars, ensuring that visitors to the venue will be able to have all their needs taken care of on the premises.

Supported by three national organisations: the KOTRA, Gyeonggi-do and Goyang-city, KINTEX hosts many international events that promote the country's trade and economy. Some of these events include the Lotte Castle Festival of Harmony Residents, Korea Chem, the International Materials and Components Industry Show and the International LED Expo and OLED Expo.

Visitors will finds that KINTEX is easily accessible from the Incheon airport via the Seoul Ring Expressway. The venue is also well connected to bus stops and train stations, allowing guests to use the region's public transport to get to KINTEX. Exhibitors and guests will also be able to locate plenty of accommodation options near the venue, ranging from business hotels like the Mate Hotel, Yoido Hotel and Stay7 Premier Hotel to deluxe and luxury hotels like the Hyatt Regency Incheon, Grand Hilton and Mayfield Hotel. Guesthouses, motels and budget hotels can also be found in the vicinity.

If you visit Korea for the first time, it is worth reading a book such as the Cultural Guide to Korea in order to understand the cultural differences when doing business to in the West. The good news though when attending an exhibition at one of the main exhibition venues of this size is that there tends to be a truly international audience and in such an environment, any cultural misunderstanding tend to be overlooked with an appreciation that Westerners to the city are new to the culture. One of the most interesting things in Korean business is that for most major deals, it is essential to be willing to drink heavily with the leaders of the company with whom you plan to do business. The concept is that you can only really trust each other once you have let down your inhibitions and this happens after drinking. The Latin phrase 'In Vino Veritas' which translates as 'In wine is the truth' is very much in touch with Korean business style.
